IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a test designed to assess the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It is used for university admissions, job applications, and to measure progress in learning English. The test is created by three institutions: the British Council, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, and IDP Australia.
IELTS is recognized by major universities, companies, and professional institutions worldwide. It is accepted by nearly all higher education institutions in the UK and many schools in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, China, Korea, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and other countries. IELTS is a requirement for immigration to Australia, Canada, or New Zealand. It serves as an alternative to another language exam, TOEFL.
